The Strathcona Residents Association also creates special committees for specific agenda and special interest items. One such committee is the Strathcona Revitalization Committee which is supposed to bring members of many local area business, resident, community, parent, policing, and other associations located in the Strathcona area.

The rationale for such a committee is to bring the various voices from each group so that a more cohesive, louder, and most likely, more powerful voice can be heard by the City of Vancouver. Additionally, this committee has the chance to positively affect all special interest group associations through increased communication and collaboration.

For some odd reason, however, this past year has seen the participation of other groups taper off. Is this a lack of commitment to each other? It is a curious thing, particularly when every participant group stands to increase their profile and positive image to the community at large.
