Dear Mount Pleasant Resident/Worker/Volunteer,

RE: Mount Pleasant’s Shopping Area Workshop #2

Since the last email, we’ve completed Shopping Area Workshop (SAW) #1 with over 50 people in attendance. Ideas suggested by participants at the first shopping area workshop included:

  • Redevelop Kingsgate Mall with apartments above shops and additional green space, and a new rapid transit station beneath Broadway between Main and Scotia
  • Revitalize Broadway and Fraser shopping area with new housing and additional shops and services to serve its diverse population
  • Create a more bicycle-oriented shopping area along Broadway west of Main along with providing more local-serving shops, services, and entertainment

Now we’re inviting you to come to a 2nd Shopping Area Workshop to discuss on these and other ideas with your neighbours and City staff. Feedback from this workshop will lead to the drafting of policies and plans for the commercial areas in Mount Pleasant. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided, childcare is available upon request.

WHEN: Sunday, May 25, 2008, 12 noon to 5 p.m. WHERE: Native Education College, 285 East 5th Avenue
